The Golden Circle

The Golden Circle includes visits of some of the most interesting and famous sights of Iceland.  We start by Thingvellir National Park which is highly interesting from both geological and historical point of view.  In Thingvellir you can see the effects of the tectonic plate movements which have opened various cracks and fissures in the earth crust and it was in Thingvellir that the Icelandic Parliament was founded in the 10th century.  After enjoying a short walk in the unique landscape of Thingvellir, we continue to the famous geothermal area of Geysir where the Strokkur hot spring ejects its water column high into the air every 5 – 10 minutes or so and where numerous small springs are boiling and bubbling.  Visit of the Geysir Geological Centre nearby.  Afterwards we only have a short drive to reach Gullfoss, a spectacular waterfall which Icelanders refer to as the “golden” waterfall.  Drive back to Reykjavik.

Duration: 8 hours.

Golden Circle Multi Activity Day

A full day excursion in super trucks.  We head through the lava fields near Reykjavík, where you will start by experiencing caving in this area of natural phenomena.  We squeeze or crawl through the cave entrance to see the incredible rock formations.  The cave widens and heightens when we go further inside.

After exploring the cave, you will have a beautiful lunch buffet in the nature.  After lunch we drive to the spouting hot spring area of Geysir and the famous Gullfoss Waterfall.  After visiting these two sights, we will have an ATV ride  in magical surroundings.  The journey then continues to Thingvellir National Park

Thingvellir is renowned, not only for its important role in Iceland’s history, but also because of its geology.  This is one of the few places on Earth where you can see how the earth is torn apart on the Mid Atlantic Rift.  Here we will take on a search and rescue task.  Drive back to Reykjavik.

This tour can be taken with or without activities and activities can be of different kind as well.   View Here our selection of activities.
